How to control zone using Bind or tranfer domain control from someone else

I assume that you have Bind9 set up and Master and Slave configuration.

Process is as follow and this depend slightly on your bind configuration.

1. Edit /etc/bind/named.master – Add zone info to it

2. Add zone to /var/cache/bind/Master as long as this is a place were you keep all your zones

3. Add zone info to your Slave Nameservers in /etc/bind/named.slave

4. Reload bind in master and slave by issue /etc/init.d/bind9 reload

You can monitor logs in /var/log/named/default.log. You can use tail -f /var/log/named/default.log

Once zones/domains are updated on slave you use

dig @ns1.example.com domain.com to see the results.
