Job Description

The Cyber Security Manager for Rackspace International will oversee and coordinate logical security efforts across the organization in collaboration with other key stakeholders in the business. Responsibilities will include cross-functional management of the security responsibilities assigned to the following departments: Information Technology, Human Resources, Network Security, Support, Legal, and Facilities Management. In addition, this role will identify and operationalize security initiatives and standards that need to be applied to Rackspace,s operating environment, and be responsible for leading a team of Security Engineers.


– Responsible for security strategy and security initiatives aimed at safeguarding the company’s assets, intellectual property and computer systems
– Participates in business continuity planning, data loss prevention and fraud prevention
– Identifies security architecture, protection goals, objectives and metrics consistent with corporate strategic plan
– Manages the development and implementation of global security policy, standards, guidelines and procedures to ensure ongoing maintenance of security
– Oversees incident response planning as well as the investigation of security breaches, and assists with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches as necessary
– Works with outside consultants as appropriate for independent security audits


– This position is responsible for managing other employees
– Product and vendor purchasing decisions and Budget planning
– This person should be able to execute their tasks with little to no supervision as well as organizing and delegating tasks as dictated by the current workload
– This person should possess advance knowledge in the following areas:
– Security intrusion, detection, and prevention methodologies.
– Global information security standards, best practices and security controls
– Pertinent legal and compliance frameworks
– Security Advisement to safeguard critical information assets
– Security testing and hardening strategies
– Security Architecture
– Physical Security
– Provides thought leadership and technical input to the GSS leadership team to support informed decision making
– Responsible for managing projects in their area of expertise
– Leading and directing the implementation of technical security systems, controls and practices across the International business.


– Successful execution of security strategy to achieve positive outcomes
– Demonstrating initiative to improve the security management system
– Expert management of risks, security incidents
– Frequent reporting of team performance to GSS leadership

Job Requirements


– Extensive information security experience, across broad security domains
– Experience leading and mentoring a team of security professional
– Knowledge of industry standards such as PCI-DSS, ISAE3402 and ISO 27001
– Experience in security monitoring, detection, prevention and control systems
– Excellent verbal and report writing skills
– Strong ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
– CCNA qualification preferred
– MSc in Information Security preferred
– Self-starter that takes ownership of identified issues
– Able to succeed in a fast, high-growth work environment
– Ability to dig into details as well as analyze data from a high level view
– Extensive experience with intrusion detection system, hacker techniques, phishing schemes, emerging logical security threats, compromised server techniques
– Should understand the compliance, legal and ethical obligations that organizations should have with respect to logical and physical security, personally identifiable information, and data protection
– CISSP certification required (or near-term plan for attaining certification)
